What is History Pin?
Historypin is a new digital way of documenting history. With Historypin we are able to post pictures, documents, and movies to a map, making history more interactive and visual. When posting items to the map, Historypin makes it easy to date, site, and write descriptions of the documents. Historypin also has a special feature which allows pictures to be posted to “street view” on the map. With this feature, viewers are able to see what a specific location looks like present day, and what it looked like in the past. Pictures, documents, and videos can also be compiled into a tour, which organizes and guides viewers through the information.

The Process
Working with historypin has had it’s ups and downs. At first the website seemed easy to use. It had step by step instructions to post pictures to a previously blank map of Snows Court. Historypin also made it easy to cite our sources and date the images we posted. But soon, as we started to create our tours, we began to encounter some difficulties with the website. The tours wouldn’t allow us to save or publish our tours, most likely due to glitches. Also, later on in  our project, we realized we couldn't post images in streetview in the actual alley; this was a major setback for us. Overall the idea of using this website as a medium was enticing, but ultimately some of the cons outweighed the pros. We anticipate that our final product will be a compilation of a few of our pins in a tour. Also, we think that the video of Reverend OJ will be a highlight of our tour.
